As the site has morphed, and because I live in Illinois, I have felt that perhaps the site should contain a page specifically for Illinois items, as opposed to intermingling those items within the framework of the other pages, most of which contain information more specific to the nation as a whole (though, seemingly, much of which could/would have an impact on each state, Illinois included).  Thus, this page is dedicated solely to Illinois matters.

                             A good argument to keep the flat tax

3/6/10:  In THIS Chicago Tribune opinion piece, the Illinois Policy Institute offers some excellent and very sound reasoning why the flat tax (income) in Illinois should remain in place, even in spite of the serious deficits the State is facing.  One reason for not changing the system is the lack of accountability of the State, something we would all agree on.

2/27/10:  Dan Proft, a recent candidate for Governor of Illinois who lost in the primary, is one not known to mince words.  In THIS ARTICLE, Mr. Proft shares perhaps one of the absolute best assessments of the condition of the State I have ever seen in a radio interview.  He pulled no punches and was absolutely dead on.  THANK YOU for those words Mr. Proft!!

           Chicago Sun Times carries water for the mob's favorite banker

2/24/10:  According to THIS ARTICLE it seems that the Sun Times, a vibrant part of the main stream media team when it comes to reporting fairly, openly, and honestly is, for all intents and purposes carrying the water for the mob's favorite banker, and democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Alexi Giannoulias.  For the life of me I can't figure out why...unless this combo has something to do with it:  democrat, union, mob, main stream media. 

 2/26/10:  And HERE is an updated article from Bloomberg Report on the same matter.  Keep tuned..we may see some interesting twists yet in this thing.

2/24/10:  Things never change, never ever, when it comes to Chicago style politics.  The fat cats keep getting fatter.  There is nothing like a well greased machine to keep the money and power flowing, as seen in THIS ARTICLE.

                   Another left over from the Blago days must go

2/20/10:  McPier, in Chicago, continues to be a huge drain on the Illinois budget, and it is not made any easier by the coziness of the union influence, Chicago influence, and in particular the role that Blago crony Juan Ochoa plays in the mess.  It is, at best a cesspool of mismanagement (courtesy of Ochoa), and remains a financial boondoggle in the State.  A read of THIS ARTICLE outlines yet another chapter of corruption and skulduggery in Illinois politics, and leads one to correctly assume that when it comes to McPier it is not a matter of garbage in-garbage out, but more like money in-garbage out.

2/17/10:  THIS LETTER, sent today by Cabellas in Hoffman Estates tells about an imminent threat to significantly change gun laws here in Illinois through either HB180 or HB5734, either of which could be acted upon at any moment.  The information contained in the letter/e-mail by Cabellas is something each Illinoisan should act upon immediately. 

                Unfunded liability in the States Pension Systems--thank you Unions

2/17/10:  We are all aware of the huge financial problems that this state faces.  In THIS ARTICLE we find how the unfunded liabilities of the States Pension Systems are a huge factor in the current financial distress.  We really all need to give a huge thanks to the unions for this one.  And, of course, out state congress, who, in their usual wisdom have forever continued to NOT keep up with their payments into the system. 

            A Real Conundrum...Kirk vs. Alexi....and what can we do?

2/4/10:  No one (except the idiots) want to see Alexi get in.  He is a typical demonrat....a conniving, fact twisting nabob with no experience.  Going back a few years, the IL. GOP (good old pals club) sold Illinois out big time by essentially leaving Senator Fitzgerald out to dry, a move that ulltimately ended up with Obumbler getting that Senate seat, and ultimately the presidency (if you can call it that).  And now we have this mess to face...so it goes back a couple of generations in reality.  That stranglehold of the IL GOP (good old pals club) still stands, but because of us/the movement, it is on shakier ground.  It is my opinion that Obumbler might not now be POTUS were it not for that chain of events...for if they hadn't screwed up so bad, he would not have had the senate in the first place.  Now, turning to todays situation.....there are some folks within the state that have huge, huge resources ($$$) and they absolutely despise Kirk (like most of us) but do not want Alexi in because of the damage he can do.  I would not be one bit surprised to see an independent get put on the ballot with extremely good backing financially.  And that independent will be one who will fully and excruciatingly vetted, will be extremely presentable, well spoken on issues, and really up to speed.  IF that happens, it will be extremely important for the grass roots movement here in Illinois to work extremely hard..and it will take some national grassroots effort as well (similar to what took place in Mass).  That is why it is so very, very important that during the next 8 or 9 months, individual groups focus, focus, focus on growing their groups (beyond tea parties and such),  that they actually plan to grow, and work the hell out of their plan.  By doing that, the power of networking will increase both drastically and exponentially....and it is going to take a ton of it to get the job done come November.  It will have to go way beyond a bunch of e-mail blasts and e-mail hype (a lot of which we saw in this recent election).  It is going to have to be face to face to face, person by person, neighborhood coffees, feet to the ground, etc., types of WORK to grow those groups and get folks engaged in the movement, one person at a time.  If Illinois will AT LEAST triple the amount of groups formally grouped up (in fairly fast order), and at the same time those local coordinators commit, absolutely commit, to do what it takes to engage growth in that 8 or 9 month period of time, I think we really stand a chance....not of splitting the vote and handing it to Alexi, but winning.  It is an extreme long shot, yes, and a scary prospect from the standpoint of what happen if it fails.  But, if it succeeds, it is indeed a slap not only at the demonrats, but a huge slap at the good old pals club which, to this day, is continuing to hurt Illinois.   Read the article below for more on this.  And read MICHELLE MALKIN'S ARTICLE for her take on Lame and Lamer....and then think darn hard about it all.  Does Illinois really want to suck up mediocrity and politics as usual until the next Senate election?

Whether you live in Illinois or not, Please call Steny Hoyer's office and let him know that Americans refuse to pay 200 million dollars to provide security and attorneys for the Gitmo terrorists.  This is ludicrous in these economic times!  In a published DOJ budget they are appropriating 237 million dollars to purchase Thomson Prison (it cost 140 million to build, I guess in the minds of the DOJ, properties are appreciating quite a bit?!), 73 million to transfer the terrorists and then throw in the 200 million for their lawyer fees and security.  That's another 510 million dollars on the backs of us taxpayers!  Not to mention the security concerns, the insult to our troops who are fighting so hard to keep these animals away from us, and the very real possibility that some of these could be released onto our streets.  I can just see the opening arguments by the lawyers representing these warm and fuzzy terrorists:  Your honor, since the President, Attorney General and Press Secretary to the President have already judged my poor terrorist client guilty and sentenced him to death, I move for a mistrial.
I was very nice when I called Hoyer's office and thanked him for rethinking this position.  I also gave her the $510 million figure in costs and told her we will not stand for this! I also told her she should be getting lots of calls so please, call!..Thanks...Beverly Perlson...here is our chance to put a stop to this NOW!

1/21/10:  Here's a Tribune writer that really gets it, and asks some great questions in THIS ARTICLE. He should think about running for Mayor of Chicago!  It is time to light the fires and turn up the heat if this state of bumblewads and imept politicians are ever to be thrown out of office and a sense of reason restored in Springfield.  Or...are we going to be complacent, rest on our laurels, and live with the samo-samo?

                           Illinois unemployment continues to climb

1/23/10:  Upward and onward the trend continues as Illinois jobs continue to take the hit.  We are now at an unprecedented 11.1% unemployment rate.  When will the seams bust?  READ ON.

1/16/10:  While certainly not the highest State in the country in terms of foreclosure rates, Illinoisans are certainly being crushed by the economy, and it appears that there will be no let up in 2010 according to the projections presented in THIS ARTICLE.  It also seems that the constant "rule changing" in the governments plan to aid those in foreclosure is a problem in helping to keep the rate of foreclosures down.
